Young looking older woman touching plump skin

As we age, our skin loses collagen and elasticity. Areas that previously had healthy amounts of subcutaneous fat (fat that sits under the skin instead of visceral fat which sits over the organs) in our twenties and thirties begin to lose their natural fullness. The skin over these areas stretches as the facial muscles work closer and closer to the skin’s surface. This causes facial lines, creasing, and sagging.

Dermal fillers are aesthetic medicine’s non-invasive (non-surgical) answer to these volume and wrinkle concerns. They can be helpful to patients with early signs of aging, or can even be included in facial surgeries to augment a desired result.

If you put dermal filler on a spoon, it would look like a clear gel varying in thickness. In fact, different brands of dermal fillers offer varying degrees of consistency for different areas of the face.

Dermal fillers can soften facial wrinkles or creases, plump the lips, improve the appearance of scars, rejuvenate shallow contours, and even restore the youthful look of a face. Depending on the particular area of concern, a our physicians will determine what treatments would best fit the needs of each particular patient.
